POL-POD To:
(Claimant) Sir, Despite
LCL acting with due diligence in performing the contract of
carriage, it is inevitable that goods sometimes go missing during
the course of the transportation.
Please
note, however, that while we will do our best to assist you if your
goods have been lost, we will not always be liable for that loss. In
addition, the extent of our liability will occasionally be limited
by law. Consequently, we will not always be able to compensate you
for your loss. In
the event that goods have been lost during shipment and you are of
the opinion that the shortage has been caused by us, we kindly ask
you to follow this procedure:
Give immediate notice of the shortage to us and to our agent at
place of destination, via phone, fax or e-mail. This notice should
be given in the format
attached to this letter, and always within 3
days from receipt of cargo.
Fill out the appended claim form and send it to us together with
the documentation specified therein.
When
we have the completed form and the documentation asked for, we will
carefully consider your claim and revert with comments and
questions, if any. We will honour all claims where it appears that
we are liable according to the law.
If
you have any questions regarding cargo loss—please, do not
hesitate to contact us at any time. Yours
sincerely, LCL
